Our carbon is not pre-washed and highly activated, so it is ready to absorb and adsorb toxins from your aquarium.

When carbon is being pre-washed, it is absorbing and adsorbing whatever chemicals, pollutants, and gases are contained in the wash water at a very fast pace! 
After the carbon is pre-washed and dried, its weight is increased by over 100%! This weight increase is added moisture and any contaminants that might have 
been absorbed/adsorbed from the wash water.

                               Pre-Washed Carbon Vs. Air-Vacuumed Carbon:
All of our major carbon competitors pre-wash their carbon. At GINGER™, we air-vacuum our carbon before packaging it or using the carbon in our filter cartridges. 
This processing difference is one of the reasons GINGER™ carbon is so much lighter than our competitors’. It is also one of the reasons that GINGER™ carbon 
outperforms that of all our competitors! A good grade of dry, highly activated carbon will be very active when it is first introduced to the aquarium water. It will 
initially absorb and adsorb a large amount of pollutants and toxic gases over a very short period of time. After this initialburst of activity, the carbon will attract 
pollutants and toxic gases at a much slower rate until its capacity has been exhausted. At this point, the carbon is virtualy useless! A 27.6 pound bulk bag of 
GINGER™ carbon which is not air-vacuumed or pre-washed is equal in volume to approximately 60 pounds of the pre-washed carbon sold by our competitors!
